Gloria is a native of Nashville, where she enjoyed a long career in journalism as a feature writer and editor at The Tennessean before leaving the newspaper business to become a freelance writer. In her newspaper days, she covered fashion, home design, gardening, travel and other features, and was travel editor at The Tennessean from 1998 until 2006.She is a graduate of the University of Tennessee.
Currently, Gloria is a contributor of garden-related topics at HGTV.com, maintains two garden blogs, writes garden and travel features, stories and essays. She also teaches Creative Writing in the Community Education program at Watkins College of Art in Nashville, and is on the faculty of MTSU Write at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tenn. as a nonfiction and fiction mentor. She leads writing workshops in creative non-fiction and travel writing, and classes and workshops on a variety of gardening topics.
She is a member of Garden Communicators International, and Master Gardeners of Davidson County in Nashville, TN.
